Legend has it that Lord Rama bequeathed the fort to his brother Laxmana, hence the name Bandhavgarh (Bandhavgarh National Park) which means brother's fort. The Bhimbetka rock shelters in Madhya Pradesh exhibit the earliest traces of human life in India; its Stone Age rock paintings are approximately 9,000 years old.

The city of Ujjain (also known as Avanti) arose as a major center in the second wave of Indian urbanization in the sixth century BC, and served as the chief city of the kingdom of Malwa or Avanti. Further east, the kingdom of Chedi lie in Bundelkhand. Chandragupta Maurya united northern India c. 320 BCE, establishing the Maurya empire (321 to 185 BCE), which included all of modern-day Madhya Pradesh. King Ashoka's wife was said to come from Vidisha- a town north of today's Bhopal. The Maurya empire went into decline after the death of Asoka the Great, and Central India was contested among the Sakas, Kushanas, and local dynasties during the 3rd to 1st centuries BCE. Ujjain emerged as the predominant commercial center of western India from the first century BCE, located on the trade routes between the Ganges plain and India's Arabian Sea ports. It was also an important Hindu and Buddhist center.

In Bhedaghat there is group of temple called Chausath Yogini temple en route. It is built at the hill top. The idol established here at chausath yogini is encircling the stone wall, set in the view if circular colonnade set with scores of images of yoginis or the attendant goddess of durga, came as a surprise. Though the statues of the yoginis are not worshipped; visitors stepped into the central shrine dedicated to lord shiva and his consort Parvati. The temples were constructed during the 10th Century. It was dedicated to goddess Durga. From the top of the temples you can have the beautiful view of the river Narmada flowing through the marble rocks. The temple has exquisitely carved stone figures of the 64 yoginis or attendants of the goddess Durga, belonging to kalchuri reign.

At the city centre there is a museum on historical collection, Rani Durgavati Memorial and museum, dedicated to the memory of the great Queen Durgavati houses the collection of sculptures, inscriptions and pre historic relics.

Bargi Dam
The Bargi dam is located around 35 Km from the Jabalpur on the Nagpur road. This hydro Power dam is circulating electricity to Jabalpur and Seoni district. Bhanwar Tal

Chausat Yogini Temple
Situated atop a hillock and approached by a long flight of steps, the Chausat Yogini Temple commands a singularly beautiful view of the Narmada flowing through the jagged Marble Rocks. Dedicated to Goddess Durga, this 10th century temple has exquisitely carved stone figures of deities belonging to the Kalchuri period. According to a local legend, this ancient temple is connected to the Gond Queen Durgavati's palace through an underground passage.
Dumna

Dev Tal
Dev Tal is one of the oldest Tal (pond) in Jabalpur. It is belived that this pond has been constructed during the Gond dynasty. Gwarighat

Madan Mahal Fort
Built by the Gond ruler, Raja Madan Shah, in 1116 atop a rocky hill, the fort dominates the skyline and provides a panoramic view of the town and the country-side around it. Large number of visitors of jabalpur come around Madan Mahal fort to ejnoy their weekend Picnic. School groups and college students also hang around here to spend the quality time. The place is free from the noise of heavy traffic and crowd. During the winters the place is surrounded by the greenery all around.
Pisan Hari Ki Madia

Rani Durgavati Memorial
Rani Durgavati was the legendary queen who sacrificed her life trying to fight the Mughals from capturing Jabalpur.
